CHRISTMAS IN ACTION of Oakland County, Clarkston Area

Christmas in Action is a coalition of volunteers who are family members, friends, coworkers, neighbors, members of groups who come together the last Saturday in April to provide FREE home repairs to qualified low income seniors or handicapped homeowners. 

Once the senior citizen has qualified for assistance, members of the CIA Board visit the senior’s home to determine what can be accomplished in one day with the volunteers and resources available.  

CIA volunteers put compassion into action, share abilities and give the precious gift of time to those who need it.  Whether you are a licensed electrician, a handy person around the house, someone who can use a paint brush or likes to do yard work, YOU ARE NEEDED!  Youth, between 12 and 18 can participate and earn community service credit hours.

If you are willing to be armed with determination to help those less fortunate, willing to give just ONE day of your time, willing to converge in compassion and companionship with a neighbor helping neighbor attitude, please let us know!!  (see below)

Other Ways to Help

• Work House Sponsor $1500.  Your organization’s name will be proudly displayed in front of a house being repaired and on the T-shirts worn by volunteers.
• Workday Shirt Sponsor $1000.  Let volunteers advertise for you by wearing their T-shirts on workday and year-round with your organization’s name prominently displayed.
• Other Workday Sponsorship opportunities are available.  Call (248) 618-7433 for more infor.
• Fund Raising Participation – A great deal of financial support is provided by fund raising efforts which include:  Reindeer Races (see opposite page) and Charity Texas Hold Em Tournaments.  Your support and involvement would be greatly appreciated.

A Night at the REINDEER RACES!

Want to beat the winter doldrums? …….. Then get ready for a fun-filled fundraiser when Christmas in Action of Oakland County, Clarkston Area presents A NIGHT AT THE REINDEER RACES on February 20, 2010!  This fun filled evening allows everyone to “get in the race” from the moment you walk in the door.  Your $20 admission will give you an evening of fun, food --- and the opportunity to buy “reindeer bucks” to place at least a minimum bet on every race (there will be approximately seven of them) and a chance to win “big”!!  You will be cheering “your” favored reindeer on to victory!  Everyone who bets on the winning reindeer will share the “purse”.  Additional fun comes to those who choose to be a sponsor. Any business, organization, church, group, or individual can advertise their name by becoming a sponsor, compete in the “best dressed reindeer” contest as well as possibly win the Championship Race!!

Your sponsorship of $100 encourages you to dress up your reindeer for the races, plus it gives you time to proudly display your “dressed” reindeer at your place of business/or otherwise prior to the races on February 20, 2010.  The races will be held at The Knights of Columbus hall on Maybee Road in Clarkston just east of Sashabaw.  Door open at 6:30 pm with dinner to follow; races begin at 8:00 pm.  Cash bar, $3 for wine & $2 for beer.
