Marianne O'Brien Markowitz is the Region V Administrator for the United States Small Business Administration. Markowitz recently served as the Chief Financial Officer for Obama for America and was previously a financial operations consultant for the campaign. Churches, schools to offer career transition series A group of local churches, in partnership with Clarkston Schools, will present a series of five sessions called “Take Charge of Your Career Transition.” The series, sponsored by Clarkston Schools and Steeples, covers several aspects of career transition, ranging from job search to finances to inventorying one’s skills and interests. Experts in the various areas will lead the sessions. The weekly sessions are open to everyone at no charge. Each session will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Clarkston Junior High School, 6595 Waldon Rd., Clarkston, Mich., 48346. CJHS is located behind Clarkston Elementary School. Clarkston News launches a Virtual Clarkston Shopping Experience. NoMall -- where local retailers can list (with pictures) inventory items to sell with e-commerce. This will be up and running by the end of October, in time for the Christmas shopping season. The idea being, locals want, can and will shop locally if given more opportunity. They can now shop online locally from their home or office computers . . . save money on shipping, etc., by arranging a pickup time if they want.
