About Us - Committees

Volunteering is a good way to meet new people, develop new skills, give back to the community and align your business and personal branding with the high quality Clarkston Chamber events, programs and projects.
Volunteering may take as little as an hour or two at an event, or involve chairing a committee that meets throughout the year.

Ambassadors

 APPLICATION FORM

Chamber Ambassadors are the welcome, smiling face of the Chamber at events and in the community.  Meeting monthly, the Ambassadors rotate responsibilities for attending ribbon cuttings and grand openings; greeting and mentoring new members; and helping host Chamber networking events, programs and projects.

Selection of Ambassadors is limited to 20 active Ambassadors annually.  If you’re interested in being considered for Ambassadorship, please fill out an application and return to the Chamber office.  New Ambassadors are designated throughout the year on a quarterly basis.

Beer University

Created by the Chamber in 2008, Beer Universities are held twice a year. Structured similarly to a Wine Tasting, Beer University provides a social networking opportunity for members, friends, family and community members.

Each Beer University has it's own planning committee to help solicit sponsors, sell tickets and host the event.

Concerts in the Park

The Chamber hosts a series of 6 FREE Concerts in Depot Park, the last 2 weeks of June through July.  The concerts take place on Friday evenings in historic downtown Clarkston.
Committee work begins in February, soliciting sponsors, selecting the bands, arranging for concessions and promoting the event to the community.  Monthly meetings February-June.

Chamber Golf Classic

One of the most important fundraisers for the Chamber, the Golf Classic provides essential funding for Chamber overhead expenses (rent, machine contracts, phone, postage, printing and insurance.)

Beginning in February, the Golf Committee meets monthly to recruit sponsors, plan the outing, promote the event to members and community and solicit door prizes and raffle prizes.  You do not need to be a golfer to be on the committee!

The Chamber’s outing is held the last week of June.

Taste of Clarkston

The Clarkston Area Chamber’s signature event, held the last Sunday in September on Main Street in Historic Downtown Clarkston.  30 Restaurants, KidZone and live music & entertainment.

Committee responsibilities begin in February, recruiting sponsors, selecting entertainment, recruiting participating restaurants and exhibitors, community promotion and much more.  Monthly meetings through October.

Event volunteers are needed in a variety of areas including set up, clean up, KidZone, ticket booth, garbage removal, safety and security at detour barricades.

Business EXPO

For over 20 years, the Chamber has organized a business and community EXPO in November.  Held at Clarkston High School for one night only, over 100 exhibitors and 1,000 visitors have an opportunity to learn more about the goods and services offered locally.

The committee meets monthly July-November to solicit sponsors, exhibitors and door prizes for the event.  Community promotions and distribution of FREE Passes to the event are also an important component of the continued success of the Clarkston EXPO.
