It is an honor to be a part of the Clarkston Chamber, and   I pride myself in community involvement.

Would you like to be involved in something that is bigger than yourself?   When I signed my agreement with MARY KAY, in 2003. I thought,  I am going to sell lipstick.  What I didn’t realize it’s so much more!  Besides all the things you know will happen, extra money and personal growth.   You can reach out and help others, in giving other women (and men, too) the opportunity to provide for their families.

Mary Kay’s motto:  “Enriching Women’s Lives.”

Mary Kay is so much more than selling a tube of lipstick.  Mary Kay actively gives grants to Women  Shelters  around the country, is an advocate against Domestic Violence, and gives grants for research  for cancers that affect women.

Mary Kay has over 3.3 million consultants  worldwide.  This is a home based business, with flexible scheduling,  I  can work  around all the other important things that make life worth while, my husband and my four kids.  If someone where too ask me what I do, I would reply, “I teach Skin Care and Color Cosmetics.”

To share the world of travel, I have also become a travel professional with KM Travel Plus.  I have a travel site online or if you need help planning your trip, just give me a call.  If you would like to save money on your travel, I can help you with that as well.

Well alright!  30 Years and Still Going!

Tom Lowrie (aka, T-man, Lowe-Lowe, Photoman, Tommy Travolta) has been designing, installing and supplying landscape materials in the Clarkston area since 1979.

After graduating from Western Michigan University, (Kzoo) with a major in agriculture & biology--(and let's not forget that minor in dance), Tom worked at True Green, but soon moved on to Bordine's in Rochester, working on a crew installing landscaping. During the winter of that year, Tom helped build the greenhouses at their Clarkston location.

In the Spring of 1979, with his older brother's encouragement, Tom ventured out on his own with a pick up truck and a wheelbarrow.

Tom designed, sold and installed every job in the beginning.  He would knock on doors of newly constructed homes and introduce himself.

30 years later, most of Tom's jobs are referral based.  Several are second generation customers!

Tom prides himself for mainly residential landscapes, though he's enjoyed working with such local businesses as Chase Plastics, Outback Steakhouse, Wint Funeral Home, Dr. Shader, Dr. Iacobelli, Dr. Mercado and Dr. Prudhomme.

Tom is a charter member of the Chamber, past president of the Clarkston Jaycees, board member of the Michigan Green Industry Association and a "staunched" Methodist.

When asked what makes Lowrie successful after all these years, he jus quotes Winston Churchill, "never, Never, Never give up!"

What an honor from this high caliber group of people!!!!  THANKS.  I have so enjoyed this Chamber and getting to know local people/businesses!  I highly suggest everyone to get involved somehow in this Chamber.  You will not regret it!  The more you get involved…the more rewarding it is!

A little bit about me…I love to be outdoors all year round.  I love Michigan because of the seasons and all the water.  Boating, golf, skiing, camping are my favorite activities and I really enjoy chilling with friends too! I am very active at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and the community.  I have a wonderful husband, 3 children and 2 dogs.  I am truly blessed in MANY ways!!!!!

I use to be in the corporate world selling high-end computers and software to Ford and GM.  I got burned out and was searching for the right home based business for me.  I have been working with the executives at Escape (headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan) to roll out a very unique on-line shopping mall.  It is called Aisle19.  It is free to join, you shop directly at stores like Meijers, Target, Macy’s, Kohl’s, Home Depot, etc, the consumer gets 1-20% cash back and I get paid by just referring people to the Aisle19 portal (gives you access to over 500 stores direct websites).

My shopping philosophy is in this order:  Buy LOCAL, Support MICHIGAN based companies, Buy AMERICAN.  If you cannot find what you are looking for locally, internet shopping is GREAT option and can really help you save time and money.  Check it out:  www.SaveMoneyAisle19.com

Thanks,

Heidi Nettler

First and foremost, I would like to thank my entire fellow Ambassador’s for the honor of being chosen Ambassador of the month.

It is such an honor working with a talented group of people who are so optimistic and bring so much fun to events!

I have been working for Clarkston State Bank and volunteering with the Chamber since 1999, and could not think of a better community to work in and to serve.  I can not believe it has been 10 years, and what an exciting and rewarding 10 years it has been! The one thing that best describes Clarkston State Bank is our superior customer service and dedication to excellence.  We offer competitive rates on our accounts, and our top notch customer service.

What sets us apart from our competition is the small town friendly atmosphere when entering any of our offices.  We offer a complimentary courier service that fits your business needs.  We will do the banking for you while you run your business!  Visit any of our offices to experience our great service and see why we were chosen the Best of the Best Bank in Clarkston for the 2nd year in a row!  Thank You Clarkston!! We take great pride in actively participating in the Clarkston community, from opening the Clarkston State Bank School Banks to handing out ice cream at the 4th of July parade. The community has given Clarkston State Bank a sense of a real community bank in Clarkston.

I enjoy being outdoors and vacationing.   I enjoy boating, snowmobiling, camping, and embracing life to its fullest.

Stop by my office of Clarkston State Bank at 5800 S. Main Street located at the corner of M-15 and Citation.  I always have a fresh pot of coffee brewing and love to chat!  Oh, did I mention Pop Corn Fridays. :)

Gary Hintz is a mature business man who still retains his childlike curiosity about how businesses excel.  He recognizes that having a great product or service is only one of the steps to success.

Years ago if you had the expertise you opened a storefront and customers found you.  Now we have to get out in the neighborhood to meet the potential clients.  By cooperating with other business owners we sponsor community activities to meet new customers.  Additionally we must have tools to facilitate the networking necessary that will bring us knowledge of new legislation, innovative products, shortcuts, tax information, etc. to work smarter every day.

Gary is convinced the best tools are local chambers and networking groups that connect people and ideas on a regular basis.  That is why over the past 6 years he has been a member of 3 network groups and several Chambers of Commerce.

Gary is a Real Estate Agent with Mico's Real Estate and an Ambassador with the Clarkston Chamber.  With all the changes that are occurring in our economy it pays to be connected.

Katy Dixon will be celebrating her 16 year anniversary with Discovery Business Systems in July and has been with the Chamber for four years.  Being an Ambassador has been fun for her because she loves to meet new people and bring new people together.

Katy has become somewhat of a “software guru." A few years back, Discovery started to sell software. For the longest time Katy avoided those products since it was out of her comfort zone.  Selling printing and give away items is what she knew.  When she started to dabble in the software, it turned out to be quite exciting.  The main focus of these products is to cut the cost of overhead and protect sensitive data in case of loss or theft.  These issues are very important in today’s economy.  Companies are asking all the time, “Where can we cut costs?” and “How can we protect our data and our customer’s sensitive information?”  If you are asking these questions, Katy can help.

Not only is Katy a dedicated employee and Chamber volunteer, she is on two committees at her church in Davisburg.  Divine Mercy is a new Catholic church that that will break ground in June.  Her favorite committee is the Interior Committee where she gets to help pick out paints, carpets, tile and wood (one of her hobbies is decorating).  You may also see her “taxi” around town, running her 3 kids to and from doctor appointments, after school activities and sports.  Bottom line, Katy loves her job, family, the Chamber and the community.
