The Rainforest Gives Back Program is brand new this year. We used to have a fundraising program that was similar but we weren’t seeing anyone utilizing it. I was chosen by our Vice President of Restaurants to be on a team to rework the program. We completely rebranded. A new name, new images, and just a better program that allows us to give more back to the non-profit organizations to continue their amazing work in our local communities. We are doing something extra special for the Down Syndrome Guild as well. Not only will 10% of our sales for the day be going back to them, but we will also be having a “sensory friendly day”. When they were talking about doing the fundraiser, the biggest comment they were getting from families is that, even though their kids love it, they get overwhelmed and afraid because of the dark lighting and intense sounds. Keeping that in mind, we are going to bring the lights up, turn the sounds down and create a feeling of safety and comfort for those that are sensitive to sensory information.
We love working with the Clarkston Chamber. What I love the most, beyond their constant involvement in the community, is the wonderful networking opportunities. I always end up seeing new faces and meeting new people to work with.
